Besides Google, Which Search Engines Matter?
For many people, the answer appears to be a resounding no, but that is to take a reasonable attitude? If these people are not significant on a chance? This article will address these issues.
While Google dominates the search market (with around 68% market share) is still a sizable chunk of the search engine market (32%), which falls outside Google. The other major search players are as follows
1) Yahoo -. About 16% of the total search volume is still about Yahoo
2) MSN / Windows Live Search / Bing – although only run about 10% of the total number of queries MSN / Windows Live Search / Bing this amount is growing month to month
3) AOL -. around 3% of search market
4) ASK – only about 1% of searches now go through ASK
5) The rest (eg, My Web, Comcast, Yellow Pages etc.) -. comprise only 2% of the total search market when combined.
As the figures above is really only MSN / Windows Live Search / Bing and Yahoo, it seems worthwhile to spend any effort in optimizing your site to be seen. The rest of the motors include only 6% of the market and should therefore be listed as your website in these directories, they are not worth specifically for the optimization. Perhaps the best approach for this group of engines is an automated search engine submission tool to use.
Another directory that is worth mentioning, although it does not seem to search the list of top providers is DMOZ.org. DMOZ is a human edited directory of law and provides results to many other search engines and directories, and it is therefore worth the effort of a manual submission.
